Lenílson Botelho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Enio Trigo. Miranga AD's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Válbson Valle in the 7th minute of play forced Itahy's goalkeeper Nelson Secco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nelson Secco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elivélton Tinoco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Miranga AD's Vladimir Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 14th minute, Elivélton Tinoco left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Miranga AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Itahy's Nelson Secco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Rezende in the 20th minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, Itahy's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Vargas came free, but Nelson Secco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 minutes, Claudinei Saraiva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itahy and the Miranga AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. 26 minutes into the match, Itahy's goal looked a bit too open when Adhemar de Sousa came free, but Nelson Secco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nelson Secco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elivélton Tinoco in the 30th minute of the match. Nelson Secco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimir Vargas, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Vladimir Vargas took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nelson Secco. Nelson Secco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. If Vladimir Vargas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastião Capixaba was the one to do the kick off. After 56 played minutes Miranga AD got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar de Sousa. 57 minutes into the match, Miranga AD's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastião Capixaba came free, but Enio Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Itahy defense, Rui Rezende kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nelson Secco. The Itahy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nelson Secco should have stopped the shot. If Elivélton Tinoco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was joyful for the audience to see Jânio Saldanha dribbling past the opponents defense line in the 71st played minute and put the ball into the net. 0-5. Sebastião Capixaba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enio Trigo having to interfere. Vladimir Vargass short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Nelson Secco to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The Miranga AD fans' excitement grew in the 80th match minute when Miranga AD's Elivélton Tinoco looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-6 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 92nd minute Vladimir Vargas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Secco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elivélton Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Miranga AD fans' excitement grew in the 95th match minute when Miranga AD's Vladimir Vargas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-8 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When the final whistle sounded Miranga AD left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Itahy.
