The Carrancas E.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vânderson Vale should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cipriano Queiroz in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vânderson Vale saved Carrancas E.C. from getting behind. After 20 played minutes Carrancas E.C. got a freekick which was hit by Michel Paulista. 26 minutes in the game, Alessandro Zonta fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Amadeu Velloso having to interfere. Antônio Ribeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Amadeu Velloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Carrancas E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cacá Neiva came free, but Vânderson Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cacá Neiva to make the kick off. Michel Paulista's late challenge caught a Ji-Paraná FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Michel Paulista helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ji-Paraná FC booed when Carrancas E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michel Paulista didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee showed Hélder Vergílio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
