In the 16th minute Hélder Ribeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaldo Tepedino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jardim do vale's goalkeeper Arnaldo Tepedino, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Jardim do vale's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Hélder Ribeiro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Jardim do vale's Arnaldo Tepedino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Jardim do vale from getting a goal against them. If Geovani Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandro Alcântara's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rony Mazza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 49th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After 56 minutes, Bernardo Borges mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Suburbanos and the Jardim do vale players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 56th minute of the game. One of Suburbanos:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Jardim do vale:s goal. In the 58th minute there was a penalty for Jardim do vale. Jairo Loureiro stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rony Mazza. 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Sandro Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jardim do vale's supporters rose to their feet, but Sandro Alcântara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rony Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sandro Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rony Mazza having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hélder Ribeiro in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnaldo Tepedino prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Geovani Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Sandro Alcântara came up free with the goalie in the 100th minute, the Jardim do vale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sandro Alcântara couldn't finish the play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Suburbanos fans cheered their team off the field, for while Jardim do vale had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
