To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 74th minute Enio Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizinho Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enio Garcia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Luizinho Pena made a huge save. Zé Terra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginaldo Linares having to interfere.
