Reginaldo Linares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimir Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vladimir Rocha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Beto Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute, Mauro Pinheiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 18th minute, Vladimir Rocha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bodo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A hard shot 22 in the game by Enio Garcia from a close distance when the talented Juvenal Abraão managed to make a qualified save. Bodo's players were relieved. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Enio Quadros took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Juvenal Abraão to make any attempt to save it. Juvenal Abraão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enio Quadros, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 29th minute, Enio Garcia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Boacu booed when Bodo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Siqueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Bodo's zone, Enio Garcia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juvenal Abraão came out of the goal and Enio Garcia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Enio Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Boacu's Reginaldo Linares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir Rocha in the 43rd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vladimir Rocha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Beto Correia came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Bodo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Beto Correia couldn't finish the play. In the 55th minute Richard de Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juvenal Abraão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, Beto Correia dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Reginaldo Linares, 1-2. 68 minutes into the match, Boacu's goalkeeper Reginaldo Linares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Beto Correia. After having played for 73 minutes, Beto Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bodo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Beto Correia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Boacu getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Tiaguinho Messias hit a great ball. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bodo's goalkeeper Juvenal Abraão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 79 minutes, Richard de Souza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Boacu and the Bodo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 79th minute, Richard de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Beto Correia struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Reginaldo Linares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bodo. Beto Correia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Reginaldo Linares made a huge save. Juan Marinho hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 91st match minute, Boacu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jânio Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. Reginaldo Linares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Beto Correia in the 92nd minute. When Beto Correia came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Bodo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Beto Correia couldn't finish the play. The Bodo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bodo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
