Spectators: 6653 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1653, VIP seats: 0) Metropolitano's Leandro Arruda started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Wágner Braga came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Metropolitano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wágner Braga couldn't finish the play. Benjamin Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Metropolitano's Oscar Paraibano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Barros in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Nilton Ferraz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 16thth minute of the game Benjamin Arruda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Metropolitano's Oscar Paraibano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 17th minute, Leandro Arruda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 25 minutes into the match, CA Independente's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Arruda came free, but Edson Zonta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leandro Arruda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Metropolitano's Dieguinho Hermes got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After 34 played minutes, CA Independente's Rodrigo Baptista shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Oscar Paraibano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in CA Independente reached it. In the 35th minute, Adelino de Godoi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Metropolitano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Edson Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Arruda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leonel Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Oscar Paraibano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leonel Barros was the one to do the kick off. If Benjamin Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edson Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leandro Arruda in the 54th minute of play. Wágner Braga struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Edson Zonta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Metropolitano. Metropolitano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wágner Braga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 69th minute, Benjamin Arruda left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CA Independente fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.
