64 minutes into the game, Osvaldo Siqueira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bodo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santos the free kick. A collision led to Bodo getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Bodo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Marquinhos Cearense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Kléberson Paes fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bodo's protests and gave Kléberson Paes a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Bodo's Kléberson Paes got a free kick in the 76th minute. Marquinhos Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Abraão having to interfere. Marquinhos Cearense might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juvenal Abraão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marquinhos Cearense ran back to his position shaking his head. 83 minutes into the match, Santos's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Rocha came free, but Hílton Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Juvenal Abraão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vágner Koehler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Marquinhos Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juvenal Abraão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vágner Koehler, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Marquinhos Cearense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Bodo supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Santos's performance. The match ended with a win for Santos.
