Décio Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vágner Koehler in the 36th minute of play. Santos were furious when Jerônimo Vieira was red carded, 43 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 42 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle.
