But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wágner Braga couldn't finish the play. Vladimir Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Paraibano having to interfere. Oscar Paraibano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimir Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Beto Correia during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 0-1 became the score in the 26th minute when Beto Correia elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 34 minutes into the match, Metropolitano's Leandro Arruda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juvenal Abraão narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Vladimir Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vladimir Rocha in the 47th minute of play forced Metropolitano's goalkeeper Oscar Paraibano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Bodo were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vladimir Rocha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vladimir Rocha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Juvenal Abraão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wágner Braga in the 64th minute of the match. Bodo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vladimir Rocha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Bodo booed when Metropolitano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Guilherme Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oscar Paraibano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimir Rocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Wágner Braga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
