Afonsinho Soares's late challenge caught a Assoc Atlética Epitaciana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Afonsinho Soares helped the player get up and apologised. When Benedito Pena got free in front of the goal in the 18th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Tomás Leão was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Cipriano Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Cipriano Almeida came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Assoc Atlética Epitaciana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cipriano Almeida couldn't finish the play. Cipriano Almeida who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 94thth minute tested the skills of Eurico Loureiro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tomás Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Novaes, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute.
