Spectators: 7183 (Terracing: 5389, Seating: 1652, VIP seats: 142) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Zé Carlos Leme started the match with the kick off. 11 minutes into the game, Puxinana's Zé Carlos Leme nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tomé Barral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Carlos Leme in the 17th minute of play forced São José F. C.'s goalkeeper Tomé Barral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Carlos Leme took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tomé Barral. Tomé Barral dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Percy Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. São José F. C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Percy Pinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardinho Cordeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. São José F. C.'s Tomé Barral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Carlos Leme in the 26th minute of play. Vivaldo de Alcântara made in the 29th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by São José F. C.'s Marcelinho Pontes. Wilian Hermes kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Tomé Barral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Luís Monteiro in the 36th minute of play. If Percy Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute, Marcelinho Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When André Luís Monteiro fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Puxinana's protests and gave André Luís Monteiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 43rd match minute, Puxinana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Luís Monteiro to maneuver through the defense.

The wind increased when Percy Pinho made the kick off in the second half. After 58 played minutes São José F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Eger. Ricardinho Cordeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juninho Santana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Marcelinho Pontes came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the São José F. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelinho Pontes couldn't finish the play. If Percy Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 80thth minute of the game Percy Pinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Puxinana's Ricardinho Cordeiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zé Carlos Leme received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tomé Barral came out and tried to block the shot, but Zé Carlos Leme slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 82nd minute. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Percy Pinho put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Ricardinho Cordeiro. The Puxinana supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Puxinana would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
