With an all-out effort, Formiga Atômica's Tomé Barral threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Doriva Cardoso, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Tomé Barral didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oséas Guimarães went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Juan de Alcântara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelinho Pontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Doriva Cardoso kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, São José F. C.'s Paulo Eger got a free kick in the 23rd minute. In the 26th minute of the match, Oséas Guimarães got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tomé Barral was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Juan de Alcântara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 39 minutes into the match, Gernando da Mata dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tomé Barral, 2-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Formiga Atômica's Oséas Guimarães slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tomé Barral. That made the score 3-1 after 44 minutes of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

When the referee ended the match the Formiga Atômica players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
