When Romeu Marquez fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itapiruçu's protests and gave Romeu Marquez a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Cerquilho booed when Itapiruçu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeu Marquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Virgílio Brasil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dagoberto Proença having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jardel de Sousa in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eliseu Vasconcelos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Jardel de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Itapiruçu booed when Cerquilho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cássio Gerber didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jardel de Sousa might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eliseu Vasconcelos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jardel de Sousa ran back to his position shaking his head. Eliseu Vasconcelos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jardel de Sousa in the 89th minute of play. 90 minutes into the game, Ezequiel Garcia threw the ball into play from the sideline. Cerquilho's Clóvis Vides quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Jardel de Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliseu Vasconcelos having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cerquilho fans cheered their team off the field, for while Itapiruçu had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
