In the 19th minute, Manuel Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. PALMEIRAS were furious when Horácio Carneiro was red carded, 27 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. When the match had been going on for 29 minutes, Itapiruçu's Ezequiel Garcia got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Samuel Pitta. Eliseu Vasconcelos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artur Miranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Artur Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eliseu Vasconcelos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dalmo Dias in the 45th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With a little luck, Itapiruçu's Eliseu Vasconcelos got control of the ball when Manuel Sena tried to sneak it across the goal line. Artur Miranda struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Eliseu Vasconcelos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PALMEIRAS. Virgílio Brasil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. PALMEIRAS's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.
