When Fábio Magalhães came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Catanduva FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fábio Magalhães couldn't finish the play. Fábio Magalhães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Raí Quirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waldemar Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, Frédson Carioca fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 16th minute, Fábio Magalhães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Raí Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otávio Porto in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd match minute, Catanduva FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walmir Lopez to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Frédson Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Betus FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Frédson Carioca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivo Leme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fábio Magalhães scored 0-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Raí Quirino, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 36th minute, Fábio Magalhães made a precise shot to the right of Raí Quirino. Betus FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Raí Quirino made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Walmir Lopez hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Ivo Leme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frédson Carioca in the 56th minute of the match. Osvaldo França charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Osvaldo França the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 57 played minutes Betus FC got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldo França. In the 58th minute of the match Diguinho Massa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Raí Quirino showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ivo Leme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldinho Branco in the 59th minute of play. Catanduva FC's Ivo Leme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frédson Carioca in the 62nd minute of play. If Otávio Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Otávio Porto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Raí Quirino was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. In the 72nd minute Otávio Porto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raí Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 74 minutes into the game, Fábio Magalhães cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Raí Quirino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 84 played minutes Catanduva FC got a freekick which was hit by Waldemar Perez. In the 85th minute Osvaldinho Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Leme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Betus FC's Raí Quirino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Betus FC from getting a goal against them. After 96 played minutes Betus FC got a freekick which was hit by Genílson Reis. If Otávio Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Catanduva FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
