The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 44th minute, when Vila Ildemar FC's Anderson Fantini after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Jefferson Koehler in Gionel FC's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. In the 47th of the match, Dênis de Toledo tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Jefferson Koehler got in the way and made a wonderful save.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luisão de Sousa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Ronaldinho Sergipano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luisão de Sousa took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rui da Silva. Rui da Silva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. The Gionel FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
