Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leopoldo Santos in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elano de Carvalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jorginho Viana was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 45 minutes into the match. Naldo Dionísio walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After the first half Vrau AxT were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rubens Brasil to make the kick off. Edgar Gerber showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norberto Gonçalves in the 55th minute of the match. Edgar Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubens Brasil, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After 58 played minutes Jaboticabal Atletico got a freekick which was hit by Zézinho Soares. In the 59th play minute Rodrigo Bertassi came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Edgar Gerber. 0-3. Zézinho Soares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elano de Carvalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vrau AxT's goalkeeper Elano de Carvalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 66 minutes into the match, Vrau AxT's goal looked a bit too open when Júnior Fontes came free, but Elano de Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elano de Carvalho came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Jaboticabal Atletico's Júnior Fontes. But to his dismay, Júnior Fontes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Edgar Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norberto Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the last second Edgar Gerber throw himself and got hold of the ball when Rubens Brasil in the 75thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 76th minute, Rubens Brasil fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After having played for 79 minutes, Júnior Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jaboticabal Atletico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Júnior Fontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leopoldo Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Zézinho Soares came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Jaboticabal Atletico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zézinho Soares couldn't finish the play.
