Fred Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jano Quirino having to interfere. Germano Cordeiro took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jano Quirino. Jano Quirino dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After having played for 13 minutes, Chicão Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rangers fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chicão Capixaba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Borussia Dortmund's Pedro Campidelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Régis Lima in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Juarês Marinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Borussia Dortmund's zone, Régis Lima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Campidelis came out of the goal and Régis Lima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedro Campidelis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Régis Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Pedro Campidelis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chicão Capixaba in the 25th minute of play. Germano Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Jano Quirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Machado in the 47th minute of play forced Rangers fc's goalkeeper Jano Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fred Machado to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Germano Cordeiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Borussia Dortmund fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Pedro Campidelis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Régis Lima in the 56th minute of play. In the 65th minute Régis Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Campidelis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rafa Neto hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Borussia Dortmund's Robinho Mello couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 68th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Rangers fc. Pedro Campidelis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chicão Capixaba in the 72nd minute. Pedro Campidelis was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Régis Lima capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Régis Lima really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Régis Limas short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Pedro Campidelis to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 86 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Régis Lima came free, but Pedro Campidelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
