The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Valdo Falcão managed to get in a good position for a shot. Velanie FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdo Falcão was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joel Campidelis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Velanie FC booed when Soad FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gildo Loureiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Velanie FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Miranda came free, but Rodrigo Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Magno Koehler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Joel Campidelis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Soad FC's Joel Campidelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdo Falcão in the 20th minute of play. Silas Peixoto kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. With a little luck, Velanie FC's Rodrigo Quirino got control of the ball when Sydney Rezende tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joel Campidelis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Magno Koehler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rodrigo Quirino made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Sydney Rezende sent off a good shot on target. Soad FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valdo Falcão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The Soad FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Velanie FC were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Magno Koehler made a kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match Velanie FC got a corner. Soad FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Claudinho Paranaense ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Valdo Falcão managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Donato Mattos's late challenge caught a Velanie FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Donato Mattos helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Soad FC's Donato Mattos got a free kick in the 57th minute. In the 60th match minute, Soad FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nando Ramalho to maneuver through the defense. Valdo Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Joel Campidelis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodrigo Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sydney Rezende in the 68th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luciano Miranda in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rodrigo Quirino prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Luciano Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodrigo Quirino came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Soad FC's Sydney Rezende. But to his dismay, Sydney Rezende quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a rather tough play, Velanie FC's Romeu Cearense got a free kick in the 86th minute. Nando Ramalho was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. If Sydney Rezende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Soad FC's Sydney Rezende, in the 99th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Soad FC. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
