Sambaitiba's Durvalino Recife got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 31 minutes into the match, Peaky Blinders's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Paulo Travassos came free, but Ivo Diniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Walmir Tepedino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmir Novaes having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Sambaitiba's goal looked a bit too open when César Saraiva came free, but Walmir Novaes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute of the match Reynaldo Arruda shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Walmir Novaes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sambaitiba's zone, Reynaldo Arruda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walmir Novaes came out of the goal and Reynaldo Arruda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Paulo Travassos in the 45th minute of play forced Peaky Blinders's goalkeeper Ivo Diniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Paulo Travassos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Durvalino Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivo Diniz having to interfere. Walmir Novaes made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when César Saraiva sent off a good shot on target. Peaky Blinders's Dedê Salgado was substituted for César Saraiva. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmir Novaes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Luiz de Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Durvalino Recife kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. The Peaky Blinders fans' excitement grew in the 89th match minute when Peaky Blinders's Dedê Salgado looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 92 minutes, Dedê Salgado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Peaky Blinders and the Sambaitiba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dedê Salgado hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Durvalino Recife managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sambaitiba's supporters rose to their feet, but Durvalino Recife was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivo Diniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
