The audience thought a goal was coming when Erivaldo da Silveira got free with Ian Abraão in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 59 minutes into the game, João Adolfo Mesquita was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guarapari-ES Esporte Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vermelhos the free kick. Ian Abraão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal.
