Jeferson de Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frédson de Salles in the 14th minute of play. In the 16th minute, one of Pelotas F.C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pelotas F.C.. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Time de Futebol would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
