Bambu SS's Amílton Ferraz got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 18 minutes into the match, Atlético Baiano's goal looked a bit too open when Nilton Alagoano came free, but Noel Furtado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Atlético Baiano booed when Bambu SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amílton Ferraz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Baiano's zone, Nilton Alagoano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Noel Furtado came out of the goal and Nilton Alagoano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Amílton Ferraz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Furtado having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Atlético Baiano's goal looked a bit too open when Amílton Ferraz came free, but Noel Furtado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elder Freitas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Noel Furtado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilton Alagoano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Michel Seco made a kick off. Bambu SS's Mauro Aparecido got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nilton Alagoano received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Noel Furtado came out and tried to block the shot, but Nilton Alagoano slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 55th minute. In the 59th minute, Bambu SS's Mauro Aparecido dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. Noel Furtado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilton Alagoano in the 63rd minute of the match. When Nilton Alagoano came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Bambu SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nilton Alagoano couldn't finish the play. In the 67th minute, Cauã Correia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Baiano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. 69 minutes into the game, Tarcisio Gaspar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Baiano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bambu SS the free kick. Tarcisio Gaspar hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Nilton Alagoano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-5. Noel Furtado came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Bambu SS's Nilton Alagoano. But to his dismay, Nilton Alagoano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-6. Mauro Aparecido fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Furtado having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Enéas Rodrigues reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Noel Furtado. The goal made the score 1-7. Noel Furtado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilton Alagoano, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Bambu SS's Amílton Ferraz got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Atlético Baiano's Noel Furtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilton Alagoano in the 95th minute of play. If Nilton Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bambu SS's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
