A collision led to Faiz o B.O. getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Arí Alcântara hit a great ball. If Vítor Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vítor Veloso charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vítor Veloso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Osvaldo Arantes made a kick off. The nice shot from Ricardo Novaes in the 55thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Serginho Furlan had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Angelo Arantes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Caetano Zanette tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
