With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manuel Tavares in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nuno da Rocha saved Esmeraldas from getting behind. In the 9th minute Mateus Figueiredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto Nogueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Youkais's Abelardo Berger got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Mateus Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esmeraldas's supporters rose to their feet, but Mateus Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto Nogueira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paulo Gonçalves struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Gilberto Nogueira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esmeraldas. Mateus Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Gilberto Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gilberto Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Gonçalves in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Esmeraldas's zone, Dedé Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nuno da Rocha came out of the goal and Dedé Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Paulo Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manuel Tavares was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Paulo Gonçalves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Youkais's Manuel Tavares got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nuno da Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo Berger, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. If Abelardo Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 64 played minutes Esmeraldas got a freekick which was hit by Leopoldo Rezende. In the 71stth minute of the game Manuel Tavares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Esmeraldas's Nuno da Rocha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Abelardo Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Nuno da Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mateus Figueiredo didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 0-1 via right post in the game's 84th minute. Esmeraldas's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement!
