A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpected shot in the 9th minute by Gilvan Valadares got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Gilvan Valadares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Cléberson Marquez made a huge save. Cléberson Marquez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gilvan Valadares in the 17th minute. After a rather tough play, Grêmio Atlético Paulista's Dagoberto Quirino got a free kick in the 19th minute. After having played for 21 minutes, Lino Bueno managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gilvan Valadares ran back to his position shaking his head. Surui's Cléberson Marquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yan Massa in the 42nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Gilvan Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio Atlético Paulista's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilvan Valadares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cléberson Marquez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Yan Massa made the kick off in the second half. Lino Bueno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Raimundo Ortiz made a huge save. 61 minutes into the match, Yan Massa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cléberson Marquez. Surui's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Yan Massa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Gilvan Valadares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Cléberson Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 67 minutes into the match, Grêmio Atlético Paulista's Yan Massa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cléberson Marquez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cléberson Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilvan Valadares in the 91st minute of the match. Grêmio Atlético Paulista's Raimundo Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Carlos Lopes in the 94th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Grêmio Atlético Paulista players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
