One of Pinduca FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cosmos Futebol Clube:s goal. In the 14th minute there was a penalty for Cosmos Futebol Clube. Agnaldo Britto stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Geovânio Lopez. 0-1. Hudson Fernandez hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the game, Rodriguinho Pinho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cosmos Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pinduca FC the free kick. The referee gave Artur Albuquerque a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 48th minute, Artur Albuquerque hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Cosmos Futebol Clube were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hudson Fernandez to make the kick off. With his leg Geovânio Lopez managed to avoid a goal in the 56thth minute, when Cosmos Futebol Clube's Edvaldo Saraiva fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Cosmos Futebol Clube booed when Pinduca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hudson Fernandez didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edvaldo Saraiva in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Geovânio Lopez saved Pinduca FC from getting behind. Waldir Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Coutinho having to interfere. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Agnaldo Britto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Geovânio Lopez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. In the 79th minute Juninho Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovânio Lopez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute, Juninho Silva fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. If Edvaldo Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edvaldo Saraiva's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 94thth minute, Geovânio Lopez skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 95th minute, Nuno de Lima ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Geovânio Lopez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. When the final whistle sounded Cosmos Futebol Clube left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Pinduca FC.
