Mateus Linhares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renato Carvalho in the 22nd minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Valdemar Penha took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Mateus Linhares to make any attempt to save it. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mazinho Quadros to strike the kick off in the second half. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sílvio Veloso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Inácio Santana took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 65th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mateus Linhares. Bigodes FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 68 minutes into the match, Tome's goalkeeper Sílvio Veloso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mazinho Quadros. Mateus Linhares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renato Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. 75 minutes into the match, Valdemar Penha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mateus Linhares. Bigodes FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valdemar Penha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After 79 minutes, Márcio Sousa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bigodes FC and the Tome players grew even worse after the yellow card.
