The supporters of Gil vicente booed when Pompuanas AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomás Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulinho Almeida, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Jerônimo Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomás Gerber having to interfere. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Fábio Breckenfeld to make the kick off. José Carlos Arruda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Tomás Gerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Pompuanas AD's zone, Jerônimo Varela stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tomás Gerber came out of the goal and Jerônimo Varela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tomás Gerber was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Jonas Borges capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jonas Borges really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Renatinho Toledo's late challenge caught a Pompuanas AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Renatinho Toledo helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Gil vicente's Renatinho Toledo got a free kick in the 64th minute. Tomás Gerber made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jerônimo Varela in the 67th minute. Gil vicente's Vitinho Botelho got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 73 minutes into the match, Pompuanas AD's goal looked a bit too open when Paulinho Almeida came free, but Tomás Gerber reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Vitinho Botelho came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Gil vicente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vitinho Botelho couldn't finish the play. Gil vicente's Jerônimo Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pompuanas AD's Luiz Fábio Breckenfeld got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paulinho Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tomás Gerber came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Gil vicente's Jerônimo Varela. But to his dismay, Jerônimo Varela quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Enio Tróia during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 87th minute there was a penalty for Pompuanas AD. Pedro Augusto Paulista stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rômulo Lopez. 1-6. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Vitinho Botelho took a quick shot and it went in 1-7 without a chance for Tomás Gerber to make any attempt to save it. Gil vicente's Vitinho Botelho got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 95th minute, José Carlos Arruda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vitinho Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Pompuanas AD fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gil vicente were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
