But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wágner Fontes couldn't finish the play. Edmílson Martins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A hard shot 19 in the game by Wágner Fontes from a close distance when the talented Erivaldo Coutinho managed to make a qualified save. Mariano's players were relieved. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Mariano's goalkeeper Erivaldo Coutinho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eliézer Messias kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Warriors FC's Wágner Fontes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Erivaldo Coutinho. Erivaldo Coutinho yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. The audience was convinced that Wágner Fontes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Erivaldo Coutinho was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Eliézer Messias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Erivaldo Coutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wágner Fontes might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erivaldo Coutinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wágner Fontes ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 39 minutes, Lúcio Salgado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Warriors FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lúcio Salgado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Wágner Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Warriors FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wágner Fontes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erivaldo Coutinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wágner Fontes to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Wágner Fontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 56 minutes into the match, Warriors FC's Wágner Fontes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erivaldo Coutinho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 57 minutes into the game, Warriors FC's Wágner Fontes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Erivaldo Coutinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. After 70 played minutes Mariano got a freekick which was hit by Gualter Viana. After 71 played minutes, Warriors FC's Rubinho Sena shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Erivaldo Coutinho came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Warriors FC reached it. Samuel da Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erivaldo Coutinho having to interfere. Wágner Fontes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Erivaldo Coutinho having to make a save. Erivaldo Coutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wágner Fontes, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Eliézer Messias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 83rd minute, Wágner Fontes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erivaldo Coutinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. After 90 played minutes Mariano got a freekick which was hit by Artur Xavier. Wágner Fontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erivaldo Coutinho having to interfere. If Wágner Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Warriors FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
