In the 6th minute, Alfredão Viana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Basílio Urbano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Souza having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugênio Pernambucano in the 11th minute of play forced Tricolor Carioca FC's goalkeeper Dagoberto Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alfredão Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osmar Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Basílio Urbano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustavo Donato's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Osmar Souza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. After 22 minutes, Gustavo Donato made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Inhapi's Osmar Souza tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 24 minutes, Basílio Urbano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tricolor Carioca FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basílio Urbano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Basílio Urbano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Osmar Souza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustavo Donato in the 28th minute of the match. If José Carlos Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gustavo Donato struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Osmar Souza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tricolor Carioca FC. Inhapi's Ronaldão Vergílio got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tricolor Carioca FC's Basílio Urbano got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gustavo Donato fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Souza having to interfere. After the first half Tricolor Carioca FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Basílio Urbano made a kick off. Basílio Urbano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Souza having to interfere. Gustavo Donato struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Osmar Souza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tricolor Carioca FC. Inhapi's Osmar Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basílio Urbano in the 57th minute of play. In the 59th minute Basílio Urbano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osmar Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldão Vergílio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tiaguinho Maciel hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. In the 66th minute, Gustavo Donato got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 72 minutes, Gustavo Donato managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tricolor Carioca FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustavo Donato was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee showed Angelo Bueno the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Inhapi booed when Tricolor Carioca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Bueno didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute of the match Edmundo Bueno sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dagoberto Salles skillfully saved the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Inhapi's goalkeeper Osmar Souza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustavo Donato. Inhapi's Osmar Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basílio Urbano in the 87th minute of play. Osmar Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basílio Urbano, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Alfredão Viana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dagoberto Salles having to interfere. Osmar Souza came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Tricolor Carioca FC's Gustavo Donato. But to his dismay, Gustavo Donato quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3.
