The referee showed Allan Rosado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 7 minutes into the game, one of FC RAUTA:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Adilson Furtado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Faustão Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19th match minute, FC RAUTA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel Bezerra to maneuver through the defense. 20 minutes into the match, FC RAUTA's goal looked a bit too open when Adilson Furtado came free, but Faustão Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júnior Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yuri Salgado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Júnior Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yuri Salgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Edgar Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, MALAWI's Dadá Trevisan got a free kick in the 37th minute. Júnior Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yuri Salgado in the 48th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Yuri Salgado to make the kick off. Edgar Melo scored 2-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Júnior Almeida, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Edgar Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Júnior Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Yuri Salgado came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the FC RAUTA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yuri Salgado couldn't finish the play. 61 minutes into the match, Adilson Furtado dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Faustão Maia, 2-2. Edgar Melo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júnior Almeida having to interfere. After some careless play in the MALAWI defense, Edgar Melo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Júnior Almeida. The MALAWI fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Júnior Almeida should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Yuri Salgado in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Júnior Almeida saved MALAWI from getting behind. Júnior Almeida stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgar Melo's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Yuri Salgado's late challenge caught a MALAWI's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Yuri Salgado helped the player get up and apologised. After 79 played minutes FC RAUTA got a freekick which was hit by Yuri Salgado. Leonel Bezerra kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Dadá Trevisan took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 85th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Faustão Maia. FC RAUTA's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jeferson Linares hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Adilson Furtado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute, MALAWI's Adilson Furtado dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Amauri Melo managed to get in a good position for a shot. MALAWI's supporters rose to their feet, but Amauri Melo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Faustão Maia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of FC RAUTA booed when MALAWI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amauri Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Yuri Salgado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Júnior Almeida having to make a save. FC RAUTA were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
