Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Cristiano Magalhães started the match with the kick off. After having played for 5 minutes, Rubens Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SELK FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubens Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Claudinei da Silveira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 13th minute, Rubens Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Valdemar Nascimento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Hoffmann in the 21st minute of the match. Rubens Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Fernando Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Educandos's Oscar Guimarães got a free kick in the 25th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Educandos's zone, Kléberson Queirós stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Paiva came out of the goal and Kléberson Queirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Paiva having to interfere. After 29 played minutes Rubens Medeiros rounded Educandos's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Valdemar Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oscar Guimarães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Hoffmann in the 36th minute of play forced SELK FC's goalkeeper Valdemar Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juvenal Lima's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fernando Paiva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ulisses Meira during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of SELK FC booed when Educandos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulisses Meira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute, Décio Sá fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Fernando Paiva, passed just outside the right post. In the 45th minute, Kléberson Queirós got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Valdemar Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Hoffmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

SELK FC's Valdemar Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Hoffmann in the 52nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Daniel Coelho managed to get in a good position for a shot. SELK FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Coelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernando Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 58 minutes into the match, Educandos's goal looked a bit too open when Rubens Medeiros came free, but Fernando Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdemar Nascimento had in the 65thth minute some difficulties stopping Claudinei da Silveira's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Hoffmann in the 70th minute of play forced SELK FC's goalkeeper Valdemar Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Kléberson Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hamílton Penha hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Rubens Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Paiva having to interfere. After a rather tough play, SELK FC's Kléberson Queirós got a free kick in the 83rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in SELK FC's zone, Ulisses Meira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valdemar Nascimento came out of the goal and Ulisses Meira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 91 minutes into the match, SELK FC's Juvenal Lima sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fernando Paiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Kléberson Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kléberson Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Fernando Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 98th minute Rubens Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Paiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SELK FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
