Zé Carlos de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dida Coelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frank Massa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 8th match minute, Meaipe FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Durvalino Soeiro to maneuver through the defense. If Donato Dionísio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, Meaipe FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dida Coelho came free, but Zé Carlos de Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Frank Massa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 20th minute Dida Coelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Carlos de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 26th minute Jorge Dantas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermínio Lago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Meaipe FC's goalkeeper Zé Carlos de Medeiros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Macarani's zone, Jorge Dantas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hermínio Lago came out of the goal and Jorge Dantas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Macarani's Hermínio Lago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Dantas in the 36th minute of play. Hermínio Lago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Dantas in the 39th minute of play. Genílson Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Hermínio Lago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Macarani booed when Meaipe FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Genílson Bittencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Macarani players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Meaipe FC were winning 0-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dida Coelho to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Jorge Dantas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Hermínio Lago, 0-2. A collision led to Meaipe FC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Roberto Guerra hit a great ball. After 64 minutes Meaipe FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Vágner Ceresso who took care of the corner kick. 67 minutes into the match, Meaipe FC's goal looked a bit too open when Andrézinho Ramalho came free, but Zé Carlos de Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute, Jeferson Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Dida Coelho came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Macarani fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dida Coelho couldn't finish the play. Jorge Dantas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Hermínio Lago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Frank Massa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dida Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Carlos de Medeiros having to interfere. After having played for 83 minutes, Jorge Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Meaipe FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Dantas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hermínio Lago made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeferson Velasco in the 85th minute. Jorge Dantas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermínio Lago having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Murilo Couto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Meaipe FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Murilo Couto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hermínio Lago breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 91 minutes, Hermínio Lago successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 92nd minute Jorge Dantas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermínio Lago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jorge Dantas came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Meaipe FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Dantas couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Meaipe FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
