In the 6th minute, Juvenal Torres got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Iturama F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Zanette came free, but Elói Vander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th minute, Mauro Zanette left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kings of Leon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Juvenal Torres recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee gave Iturama F.C. a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Marcinho Furtado, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Kings of Leon's Wigalf Borkowski. 1-1. Samuel Veloso charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Samuel Veloso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The crowd rose to their feet as Samuel Veloso kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wigalf Borkowski. That made the score 2-1 in the 31 minute of play. Wigalf Borkowski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuel Veloso, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Kings of Leon's goalkeeper Wigalf Borkowski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 44 minutes, Hugo Simão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kings of Leon and the Iturama F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 45th match minute, Kings of Leon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Simão to maneuver through the defense. Iturama F.C.'s Enio de Alcântara got a good chance for a goal in the 49th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Samuel Veloso in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wigalf Borkowski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Samuel Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. Wigalf Borkowski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enio de Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Cacá de Alcântara's late challenge caught a Kings of Leon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cacá de Alcântara helped the player get up and apologised.
