After a defensive mix-up in Santiago Soldiers FC's zone, Caio Neiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamim Meira came out of the goal and Caio Neiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ernesto Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute Gualter Boaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cesinha Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 26th match minute, Brusque Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guilherme Pombal to maneuver through the defense. After 28 minutes, Rafa Fontes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brusque Futebol Clube and the Santiago Soldiers FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 28 played minutes Brusque Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Rafa Fontes. If Paulo Renato Ganso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gualter Boaru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cesinha Santana came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Santiago Soldiers FC's Paulo Renato Ganso. But to his dismay, Paulo Renato Ganso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 56 minutes into the match, Brusque Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Gualter Boaru came free, but Cesinha Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paulo Renato Ganso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Cesinha Santana made a huge save. Gualter Boaru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 64th minute Gualter Boaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cesinha Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cesinha Santana didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulo Renato Ganso went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Gualter Boaru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cesinha Santana was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Cesinha Santana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gualter Boaru in the 91st minute of play. Ernesto Travassos might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benjamim Meira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ernesto Travassos ran back to his position shaking his head.
