The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alexandre Vale prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Santiago Soldiers FC's Benjamim Meira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lenílson Sabóia in the 17th minute of play. Paulo Renato Ganso's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Alexandre Vale firmly grabbed it by the left post. 27 minutes into the match, Amauri da Fonseca notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Santiago Soldiers FC's Benjamim Meira. Benjamim Meira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 32nd minute, Paulo Renato Ganso fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Alexandre Vale, passed just outside the right post. Sandro de Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Paulo Renato Ganso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Alexandre Vale when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 42 played minutes Costello got a freekick which was hit by Jeferson Quirino. With a little luck, Costello's Alexandre Vale got control of the ball when Paulo Renato Ganso tried to sneak it across the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Gualter Boaru made the kick off in the second half. Alexandre Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Renato Ganso in the 59th minute of play. Didi de Sousa kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Renato Ganso in the 65th minute of play forced Costello's goalkeeper Alexandre Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Costello's supporters rose to their feet, but Amauri da Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benjamim Meira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 85 minutes Santiago Soldiers FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sandro de Azevedo who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Sandro de Azevedo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Benjamim Meira quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 89 minutes into the match, Costello's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Renato Ganso came free, but Alexandre Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Renato Ganso in the 90th minute of play forced Costello's goalkeeper Alexandre Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd minute, Paulo Renato Ganso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Santiago Soldiers FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
