The tension between the 9 de Fevereiro and the Brasília United MZ Team players grew even worse after the yellow card. Kléber Schmidt's late challenge caught a 9 de Fevereiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 46th minute, Emílio Dantas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 48th minute, Valdomiro Marquez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Raí Galvão was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Laércio Varela stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
