The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in CGMS FC's zone, Paulinho Guerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mazinho Alves came out of the goal and Paulinho Guerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Caco Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vitinho Garcia's late challenge caught a CGMS FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vitinho Garcia helped the player get up and apologised. Vitinho Garcia hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. In the 40th minute, Dário da Mata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tocantinense F.C.'s Eurico Toscano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco Martins in the 41st minute of play. Virgílio Magalhães's late challenge caught a Tocantinense F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco Martins couldn't finish the play. CGMS FC's Mazinho Alves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ezequiel Guimarães in the 58th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Caco Martins's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eurico Toscano was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. In the 65th minute Caco Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eurico Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tocantinense F.C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 97th minute, when Caco Martins scored to the left of an out of position Eurico Toscano, making the score, 0-6.
