Kiko Paes's late challenge caught a CGMS FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kiko Paes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 3rd minute, Kiko Paes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gláuber Matorin during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Poli FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Gláuber Matorin hit a great ball. CGMS FC's Dário da Mata got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dário da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard de Sena having to interfere. Caco Martins struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Richard de Sena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CGMS FC. 14 minutes into the match, CGMS FC's Dário da Mata sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Richard de Sena narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 16 minutes into the match, Poli FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dário da Mata came free, but Richard de Sena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caco Martins in the 18th minute of play forced Poli FC's goalkeeper Richard de Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Caco Martins struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Richard de Sena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CGMS FC. When Régis Batista fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Poli FC's protests and gave Régis Batista a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of CGMS FC booed when Poli FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Régis Batista didn't get a good kick on the ball. Richard de Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dário da Mata in the 25th minute of play. Régis Batista kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Richard de Sena didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Caco Martins went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Humberto Arósio, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 31 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Mazinho Alves was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Poli FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Caco Martins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

In the 63rd minute, CGMS FC's Caco Martins dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. The audience was convinced that Caco Martins's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Richard de Sena was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. 73 minutes into the game, CGMS FC's Caco Martins nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Richard de Sena made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Dário da Matas short, quick shot in the 78thth minute got Richard de Sena to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Richard de Sena stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Caco Martins's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. A collision led to Poli FC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Gláuber Matorin hit a great ball. Gláuber Matorin was shown his second yellow card after 83 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 84th match minute, Poli FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gláuber Matorin to maneuver through the defense. After 89 minutes of play, CGMS FC's Dário da Mata made it 0-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Richard de Sena was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Poli FC's Richard de Sena got control of the ball when Dário da Mata tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Dário da Mata came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the CGMS FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dário da Mata couldn't finish the play. Dário da Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Richard de Sena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. CGMS FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
