Paulo José de Queirós's late challenge caught a Bacuriteua FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valdomiro Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Júnior Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 11 minutes into the game, Bacuriteua FC's Nelson Vergílio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Júnior Meireles made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When the match clock showed 14 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Nelson Vergílio sped through Mercedes RLL's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Júnior Meireles. 17 minutes into the match, Valdomiro Schmidt notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Mercedes RLL's Júnior Meireles. Júnior Meireles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdomiro Schmidt in the 22nd minute of play forced Mercedes RLL's goalkeeper Júnior Meireles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Júnior Meireles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Vergílio in the 23rd minute of play. Mercedes RLL's Júnior Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdomiro Schmidt in the 26th minute of play. Valdomiro Schmidt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Bacuriteua FC booed when Mercedes RLL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giuseppe Berger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Augusto da Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 37th minute of the match Giuseppe Berger shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Décio Gerber showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mercedes RLL's goalkeeper Júnior Meireles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Valdomiro Schmidt was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Régis de Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mercedes RLL's supporters rose to their feet, but Régis de Queirós was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Décio Gerber breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Norberto Mello fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bacuriteua FC's protests and gave Norberto Mello a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Pedro Augusto da Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Pedro Augusto da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes into the match, Mercedes RLL's Murilo Almeida sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Décio Gerber narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Valdomiro Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71st minute, Mercedes RLL's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Valdomiro Schmidt fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Nelson Vergílio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Júnior Meireles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Júnior Meireles acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 76th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Adrianinho Andrade. Bacuriteua FC's Décio Gerber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Augusto da Rocha in the 77th minute of play. If Murilo Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Augusto da Rocha in the 81st minute of play forced Bacuriteua FC's goalkeeper Décio Gerber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th minute, Valdomiro Schmidt fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mercedes RLL's goalkeeper Júnior Meireles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 90 minutes, Régis de Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mercedes RLL and the Bacuriteua FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 90 played minutes Mercedes RLL got a freekick which was hit by Régis de Queirós. Nelson Vergílios short, quick shot in the 91stth minute got Júnior Meireles to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 95 minutes into the match, Bacuriteua FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Augusto da Rocha came free, but Décio Gerber reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bacuriteua FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
