Victor Saldanha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luizão Vargas went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Luizão Vargas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Victor Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waldemar Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luizão Vargas in the 18th minute of play forced Liverpool's goalkeeper Victor Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Liverpool fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Victor Saldanha should have stopped the shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Waldemar Leite couldn't finish the play. Angelo Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Saldanha having to interfere. The long shot by Adrianinho Dionísio in the 34th minute really tested Vicente de Mendonça's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of Liverpool booed when Guacupi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Davi Lago didn't get a good kick on the ball. The wind increased when Luizão Vargas made the kick off in the second half. If Waldemar Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilvan Alves's late challenge caught a Guacupi FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gilvan Alves helped the player get up and apologised. After 58 played minutes Liverpool got a freekick which was hit by Gilvan Alves. Luizão Vargas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Victor Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Enrique Prestes struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Victor Saldanha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guacupi FC.
