Catadupas's André Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edvaldo Camargo in the 23rd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dito Figueiredo during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. But to his dismay, Rodolfo Mesquita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Rodolfo Mesquita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Téo Saldanha having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tarcisio Marques in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Téo Saldanha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cesinha Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Téo Saldanha having to interfere. André Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Paulo de Barros in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Tarcisio Marques received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Téo Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. André Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Paulo de Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Rodolfo Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Téo Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tarcisio Marques, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 89th minute, Emerson Custódio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Catadupas's Cesinha Azevedo got a free kick in the 91st minute. André Pires made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edvaldo Camargo in the 94th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Vera Cruz FN's Luís Paulo Pitta slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of André Pires. That made the score 2-2 after 95 minutes of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
