The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pardal da Alta Mogiana. The score was 3-0 after a penalty in the 26th minute, where Cruzeiro MG:s Luiz Gustavo Ramos tricked Pardal da Alta Mogiana:s Luiz Eduardo Barbosa with a difficult ball by the left post. 29 minutes into the game, Cruzeiro MG's Tiaguinho Arce nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luiz Eduardo Barbosa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Evandro Proença in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cléberson Viana prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luiz Eduardo Barbosa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tiaguinho Arce in the 36th minute. Tiaguinho Arce might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Eduardo Barbosa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tiaguinho Arce ran back to his position shaking his head. When Cruzeiro MG's Ian Messias in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Pardal da Alta Mogiana's Luiz Eduardo Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ian Messias in the 51st minute of play. Luiz Fábio Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Ian Messias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Eduardo Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiaguinho Arce in the 59th minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Pardal da Alta Mogiana's goal looked a bit too open when Cássio Quadros came free, but Luiz Eduardo Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ian Messias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ian Messias came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Cruzeiro MG fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ian Messias couldn't finish the play. Ian Messias might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Eduardo Barbosa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Cruzeiro MG had won after a very even match.
