Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Port Vale's Alex de Mendonça started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jonas Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. Júlio Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 4 minutes, Jonas Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catolé FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonas Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Port Vale's zone, Nelsinho Vieira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio Sampaio came out of the goal and Nelsinho Vieira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 8thth minute of the game Jonas Sampaio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Port Vale's Júlio Sampaio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Catolé FC's goalkeeper Felippe Gaúcho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Luís da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Luís da Mata managed to get in a good position for a shot. Port Vale's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís da Mata was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Felippe Gaúcho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Felippe Gaúcho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex de Mendonça in the 19th minute of the match. Catolé FC's Jonas Sampaio got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonas Sampaio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jonas Sampaio to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, Port Vale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noel Massa to maneuver through the defense. Luís da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felippe Gaúcho having to interfere. Breno Neiva kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. After 66 played minutes Catolé FC got a freekick which was hit by Flavinho Linhares. In the 71st match minute, Port Vale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noel Massa to maneuver through the defense. Noel Massa hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Noel Massa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felippe Gaúcho having to interfere. Manoel Dante's late challenge caught a Port Vale's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manoel Dante helped the player get up and apologised. In the 84th match minute, Catolé FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manoel Dante to maneuver through the defense. Felippe Gaúcho made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Luís da Mata sent off a good shot on target. Júlio Sampaio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Brodel in the 91st minute of play. Jonas Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júlio Sampaio having to interfere. Chants of Port Vale echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Catolé FC had held the ball for most of the match.
