With his leg Rogério Siqueira managed to avoid a goal in the 9thth minute, when Salvavida's Alberto Corrêa fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 11 minutes into the game, Toninho da Costa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Silvério Barbosa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 16 minutes into the game, Tostão Alvarenga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carvalho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Salvavida the free kick. After a rather tough play, Carvalho's Tostão Alvarenga got a free kick in the 16th minute. Alberto Corrêas short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Rogério Siqueira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A hard shot 20 in the game by Alberto Corrêa from a close distance when the talented Rogério Siqueira managed to make a qualified save. Carvalho's players were relieved. In the 25th minute, Toninho da Costa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Silvério Barbosa was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Carvalho's Rogério Siqueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inácio Leme in the 28th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Alberto Corrêa put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Rogério Siqueira. After 34 minutes, Alberto Corrêa made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Carvalho's Rogério Siqueira tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Inácio Leme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Rogério Siqueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Salvavida's Cristóvão Madureira was substituted for Claudinho Botelho. Fabinho Souto charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabinho Souto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Carvalho getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. In the 72nd minute, Salvavida's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Toninho da Costa fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 73rd minute, Sydney de Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tostão Alvarenga got his second yellow card in the match during the 85th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 86th match minute, Carvalho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tostão Alvarenga to maneuver through the defense. Rogério Siqueira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alberto Corrêa's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomás Xavier during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Carvalho getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Tomás Xavier hit a great ball. When the referee ended the match the Salvavida players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
