When Tales Paulista came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Guarujá F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tales Paulista couldn't finish the play. Daniel Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Roberto Quirino, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 10th minute, Laerte Vides got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dino da Mata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Róbson Velasco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Róbson Velasco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 14th minute Laerte Vides shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dino da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 16 played minutes Guarujá F.C got a freekick which was hit by Alfredão Neto. Dino da Mata showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laerte Vides in the 18th minute of the match. When Laerte Vides came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Guaracy fans jumped to their feet. Róbson Velasco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dino da Mata read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Dino da Mata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Vides in the 23rd minute of play. After having played for 24 minutes, Zé Roberto Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guarujá F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Roberto Quirino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Narciso Ceresso fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guarujá F.C's protests and gave Narciso Ceresso a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes Guarujá F.C got a freekick which was hit by Narciso Ceresso. The audience held their breath when Telmo Eger in the 27th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Dino da Mata's left hand side. The supporters of Guaracy booed when Guarujá F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklin Tande didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Hernani Barreto sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Guarujá F.C's Dino da Mata didn't even have to move. After 34 played minutes Guarujá F.C got a freekick which was hit by Gino Neto. After a rather tough play, Guarujá F.C's Alfredão Neto got a free kick in the 36th minute. Guaracy's Róbson Velasco got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Laerte Vides struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Dino da Mata didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guaracy. With a little luck, Guarujá F.C's Dino da Mata got control of the ball when Róbson Velasco tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Guarujá F.C's Jânio Saraiva got a free kick in the 64th minute. After 71 minutes, Jânio Saraiva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guarujá F.C and the Guaracy players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Guarujá F.C getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Jânio Saraiva hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfredão Neto during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hernani Barreto was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 76th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Tales Paulista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dino da Mata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Vides in the 83rd minute of play. 84 minutes into the match, Guarujá F.C's goalkeeper Dino da Mata had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Róbson Velasco. When Guaracy's Laerte Vides, in the 88th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Guaracy. 90 minutes into the match, Guaracy's Róbson Velasco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dino da Mata narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Telmo Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guaracy were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Guarujá F.C to leave the ground with a draw.
