In the 16th minute, Pedro Prado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristóvão Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Carlos de Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute Tomé Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristóvão Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. panteras s.a.'s Lucas Pereira got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Sérgio Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonsinho Severo in the 81st minute of the match. Tomé Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristóvão Varela having to interfere. 87 minutes into the game, Alberto Messias cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Sérgio Santos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alberto Messias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
