Seating: 1676, VIP seats: 144) Caracanga FC's Raí Mazza started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Nilson Arce hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 9th minute Edmílson Pereira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magno Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Caracanga FC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Cipriano Prestes hit a great ball. If Edmílson Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caracanga FC's Magno Quirino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doni Bertassi in the 15th minute of play. Doni Bertassi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Magno Quirino made a huge save. Daniel Vergílio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Richard Sarmento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 20 minutes, Raí Mazza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caracanga FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raí Mazza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Richard Sarmento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raí Mazza's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. When Campo Grande Football's Edmílson Pereira in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The audience was convinced that Edmílson Pereira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Magno Quirino was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Cipriano Prestes charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cipriano Prestes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 32nd match minute, Caracanga FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cipriano Prestes to maneuver through the defense. Edmílson Pereira might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Magno Quirino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edmílson Pereira ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 44th minute, Caracanga FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Doni Bertassi fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edmílson Pereira to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, Caracanga FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jano Barral to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Daniel Vergílio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caracanga FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Vergílio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Magno Quirino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmílson Pereira's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Doni Bertassi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manuel da Silva during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Caracanga FC's Manuel da Silva got a free kick in the 77th minute. Campo Grande Football's Doni Bertassi got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Magno Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmílson Pereira in the 82nd minute of play. The Campo Grande Football fans' excitement grew in the 85th match minute when Campo Grande Football's Doni Bertassi looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 89th minute Edmílson Pereira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magno Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Magno Quirino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmílson Pereira's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. When Daniel Vergílio came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Caracanga FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Vergílio couldn't finish the play. Válter Bittencourt charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Válter Bittencourt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Caracanga FC booed when Campo Grande Football was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Válter Bittencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caracanga FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
