He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Alexandre Vale. Kléber Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Wesley Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A hard shot by Elói Arruda from long distance, 12 minutes into the match, got Alexandre Vale's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Ren Cheng Cheng struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Wesley Damião didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GUARANHUNS FC. When Ren Cheng Cheng came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the GUARANHUNS FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ren Cheng Cheng couldn't finish the play. Aírton Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley Damião having to interfere. If Ren Cheng Cheng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aírton Mello struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. A wasted opportunity for GUARANHUNS FC. 26 minutes into the match, GUARANHUNS FC's goal looked a bit too open when Felippe Coelho came free, but Alexandre Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by GUARANHUNS FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Renato Rossi was slow to take the kick. During this time Gremio FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Gremio FC's Renato Rossi to fire away a dangerous shot which Alexandre Vale despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. GUARANHUNS FC's Kléber Melo got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ren Cheng Cheng fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley Damião having to interfere. Alexandre Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olívio Terra, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Baltazar Peres kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Felippe Coelho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gremio FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Felippe Coelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gremio FC's Wesley Damião played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ren Cheng Cheng in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredão da Silveira made a kick off. Alfredão da Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Ren Cheng Cheng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Wesley Damião made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alfredão da Silveira in the 55th minute. Aírton Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley Damião having to interfere. In the 60th minute, Ernani Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. GUARANHUNS FC's Aírton Mello got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A hard shot 65 in the game by Alfredão da Silveira from a close distance when the talented Wesley Damião managed to make a qualified save. Gremio FC's players were relieved. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gremio FC's goalkeeper Wesley Damião, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aírton Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfredão da Silveira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Wesley Damião made a huge save. After having played for 75 minutes, Olívio Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gremio FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olívio Terra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Enéas Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Wesley Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfredão da Silveiras short, quick shot in the 83rdth minute got Wesley Damião to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 85thth minute of the game Alfredão da Silveira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gremio FC's Wesley Damião was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Aírton Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kléber Melo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Wesley Damião firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ernani Leão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wesley Damião having to make a save. If Alfredão da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nestor Madureira's late challenge caught a GUARANHUNS FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nestor Madureira helped the player get up and apologised. Many of GUARANHUNS FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. GUARANHUNS FC may have spent more time on the ball, but Gremio FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
